Anecdotal self reflections on their intership learning with some video evidence of procedures performed.


I am Kasarabadha Sampath ,Intern from 2k18 batch.This blog is all about procedures performed by me in the Medicine department. 


Procedures performed by me


-Inserting cannula

-Foley’s catheterisation

-Ryles tube insertion

-Ascitic Tap

-ABG Sample collection from femoral artery, Radial artery 

-Assited in Intubation 

-Assited in Central line and sutured the central line 

-Performed suction 


I have performed Ascitic tap 




Procedure:

I  have cleaned with insertion site and surrounding area with  betadine first then with spirit.I have inserted the needle with z tract technique in Right lower quadrant , at a point where fluid accumulated most.Then I collected Ascitic fluid for Labs in containers and after that I drained Ascitic fluid.Finally I  removed needle gently, closed the insertion site with gauze and paper plaster. 








I have learnt how to take good history and examine patients.I have learned how to insert cannula , Ryles tube , Foleys catheterisation .

I learnt to take venous samples and arterial samples for various blood investigations.


Learned how to Do CPR and assisted in 3 central line and sutured the central line .

I have assisted the 2 intubation with AMBU .

Suction was done by me for intubated Patient for clearing the secretions.


In Psychiatry posting as I have told about dissociative disorder patient.I gave him Inj Lorazepam IV before every episode , which made him calm.
